The deal

Flotillas Adrift is a free browser strategy game. There's no purchase, no subscription, and no paid tier of any kind. By playing, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, don't use the game — it's that simple, there's no account you're forced to have (see Accounts).

Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use cloud or social features (accounts, cloud saves, messaging, alliances, and other multiplayer surfaces — see the Children's privacy section of the Privacy Policy). If you are under the age of majority where you live, use the service only with a parent or guardian's permission.

Accounts

You can play with a real account (Google or email sign-in, syncing your flotilla to the cloud) or entirely locally with no account at all, depending on how the build you're using is configured — see the Privacy Policy for the details of each mode. You're responsible for keeping your own sign-in credentials secure. Don't impersonate another player, staff, or an in-game system entity, and don't use a name that violates the content rules below — the game will reject reserved and blocked names, but circumventing that is still a violation.

Conduct & content rules

Names, messages, alliance documents, guestbook entries, and other player-authored text are run through a profanity and content filter, and some are additionally subject to human review (custom flag images, for example, are approved or rejected by an admin before they can be displayed). Regardless of what the filter catches automatically, you agree not to:

• Post or upload content that is hateful, harassing, obscene, illegal, or infringes someone else's rights;
• Impersonate another player, an admin, or an in-game system sender;
• Attempt to exploit, cheat, or interfere with the game's systems, other players' accounts, or the shared multiplayer data (alliances, messages, the public leaderboard, etc.) beyond ordinary gameplay;
• Automate play in a way that degrades the service for other players, or attempt to access another account without authorization.

We may remove content, reject a submission (such as a flag image), or suspend or terminate an account for violating these rules — see Suspension & termination.

Your content & our license

You keep ownership of whatever you create in the game — your nation/commander names, your custom flag image (once approved), your messages, and any alliance charters or documents you post. By submitting or posting that content, you grant Flotillas Adrift a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to store, display, and transmit it as part of the ordinary operation of the game — including showing it to other players where the feature is designed to be visible (your flag, nation name, public alliance documents, the shared news wall, and similar public-by-design surfaces described in the Privacy Policy). This license exists only so the game can function; we don't use your content for anything outside the game.

By uploading a custom flag image or posting a name, message, or other text, you confirm you have the rights needed to submit it — for example, that you own or are licensed to use the image, and that you're not passing off someone else's work as your own.

No warranty

Local-mode saves exist only in your browser's storage. Clearing site data, switching devices, or browser failures may permanently erase them — keep that in mind before relying on a local-only flotilla.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Flotillas Adrift and its operator are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the game, including loss of save data or in-game progress. Your sole remedy for dissatisfaction with the game is to stop using it.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, total liability for any claim relating to the service will not exceed the greater of USD $10 or the amount you paid to use the service in the preceding 12 months — which, since the game is free, is currently $0.

Suspension & termination

We may suspend or remove an account, message, name, alliance, or piece of uploaded content — with or without notice — for violating the conduct rules above, abusing the service, or for security reasons. You can also delete your own data at any time; see the Deleting your data section of the Privacy Policy for exactly what the in-app reset does and how to request full removal.

A suspended or terminated account may lose access to its cloud save and to social features (messaging, alliances, the public roster, and similar) for as long as the suspension lasts. We may retain content beyond that point where reasonably needed for security, abuse-prevention, or moderation purposes.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the game evolves. Meaningful changes will update the effective date above; continuing to play after a change means you accept the update.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Illinois, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute not otherwise resolved will be brought in a court of competent jurisdiction located in Illinois, except where applicable law requires otherwise.

General

Severability: if any part of these terms turns out to be unenforceable, the rest still stands. No waiver: not enforcing a term one time doesn't give up our right to enforce it later. Entire agreement: these terms, together with the Privacy Policy, are the whole agreement between you and us about the game. Assignment: we may assign or transfer these terms in connection with the project (for example, a change of ownership); you may not assign yours.
